SCHOOL PROFILE

Digos City National High School (formerly Davao del Sur National High School) is the largest public secondary school not only in the Divisions of Digos City and Davao del Sur but in the entire Region XI. It has a total population of ten thousand five hundred twenty nine (10, 529) students and two hundred ninety nine (299) teaching and non-teaching personnel. It sits on a seven (7) hectare land situated at Rizal Avenue, Digos City, Province of Davao del Sur near the City Public Market. Digos City National High School is now in its 66th years of existence, it was founded in August 1946. Because of its location, students from the different municipalities of the Province of Davao del Sur flock to enroll in this school. For many years, the school has been the center of excellence not only in Digos City and Davao del Sur but also in the whole Region XI. It has four annex schools located in the various barangays of Digos City namely, Digos City National High School - Igpit Annex, Digos City National High School – Balabag Annex, Digos City National High School – Soong Annex, and Cagas-Alo National High School – Matti Annex.

Being a preparatory secondary school, the DiCNHS management classifies its students according to the following categories, namely, those in the Engineering and Science Education Program (ESEP) who passed the OLSAT), Aptitude and Ability Test and Personality Test; those in the Pilot Sections who do not qualify for the ESEP classes but have high academic performance; and those who belong to the general sections.

1) Distance Learning Program (DLP) which is offered during Saturdays and Sundays, 2) Balik-Paaralan Para sa Out-of School Adults (BP-OSA) or Alternative Learning System (ALS) which are held on Saturdays and Sundays, 3) Special Program in the Arts (SPA), 4) Special Program in Sports (SPS) 5) Special Education Development (SPED) for the visually impaired, hearing impaired, mentally retarded, autistic and orthopedically handicapped and fast learners,6) Technical-Vocational School Program (TechVoc),

7) Career Pathways-Technology and Livelihood Education (CP-TLE), and Engineering and Science Education Program (ESEP). Head teachers are designated as coordinators of these special programs to see to it that these special programs will be implemented well and will be able to achieve desired outcomes.
